LF73 | Ecosystems for Financing Transformation, Scientific wellness and data-driven longevity, CNN on thriving in 2050 & Charlie Munger's brain
Welcome to a Looking Forward’s Four For Friday. Four things that have piqued my interest this week. Enjoy!
Ecosystems for financing transformation
A survey on the landscape of financing systems change for Catalyst 2030, a group set up to improve collaboration to meet the UN’s sustainable development goals. The paper looks at ‘ecosystems for financing transformation’ and suggests the need for ‘stewards’ among other things, i.e. stakeholders who are act as catalysts to accelerate transformational change.
Phenomics: The new science of wellness
What if we could keep people healthy rather than just treat them when they’re sick? This special feature by Scientific American in partnership with systems biology legend Leroy Hood’s Phenome Health, explores how wellness is moving from art to science. This deep dive essay on data for longevity for example suggests ways in which we can match data and phenotypes with disease and longevity. For example - a strong correlation is seen between longevity and the ‘uniqueness’ of people’s gut biomes (i.e. how diverse it was):

CNN | How we’ll thrive in 2050
A broad, global sweep of the health tech innovation landscape of 2050, featuring health futurists such as Dan Kraft, covering novel wearables, digital twins and new diagnostics, among other things.
Consolidated wisdom of Charlie Munger
A thread on insights of homespun wisdom about success in business and life from Warren Buffett’s business partner. Includes nuggets such as: ‘avoiding bad habits is easier than breaking them’, ‘don’t confuse intelligence with invincibility’, and ‘self pity as no utility’.
That’s all for this week. As always, feedback welcome. Feel free to share insights or links of interest.
