Five 4 Friday - Feb 3, 2023
LF19 | Rejuvenation Olympics, Foreunner's missions, ChatGPT handwriting, another care paradox and Buzzfeed's pop
Welcome to a Looking Forward’s Five 4 Friday. I changed this from Triple Shot because five links is about the minimum number of links I can cut it down to.
Rejuvenation Olympics: A global leaderboard of people engaged in Bryan Johnson’s longevity blueprint protocol, ranking those who are most effective at slowing the march of Father Time.
Forerunner on life’s fundamentals. Forerunner launches a $250m fund for “core life fundamentals for an increasingly complicated world”, including longevity, caregiving and mental health. They aim to scale ‘contentment’ over consumerism.
3D handwriting meets GPT. First GPT made essays a commodity, now an enterprising student has connected a 3D printer to write out the essays in long form.
Another care paradox. I referred to a care paradoxes in LF13. This essay suggests care gets more expensive relative to tech (as one hour of care will always take 60 minutes). Structural reforms are needed to scale care intensive services.
Buzzfeed stock soars on news it will use OpenAI. Journalists quake as Buzzfeed commits to using OpenAI for some of its editorial functions such as quizzes. (Note: OpenAI’s new tool may help determine what’s GPT and what’s not.)
Hope you enjoyed these five. Feedback and ideas always welcome!
